Which one - LED backlit or LED sidelit or neither?!?
Am I correct in my understanding:
Backlit- is suppsed to handle the on and off of the LEDs (able to turn darker) and can be viewed more from side to side but is not very thin. (not a factor to me)
Sidelit- thinner, less viewable

During the examination, they discuss how the XBR8 has to achieve a level of black darker than the Kuro during certain scenes.Now, go read their comments on the 8500. During the examination, they discuss how the 8500 reached a much darker black than the XBR8 and how the performance of the black level is much higher than the XBR8. However, they also try to say that the 8500 reached the second level of the darkest black - after Kuro - they have never seen. Well, you can not talk about how the XBR8 can get darker than the Kuro, and then discuss how the 8500 achieved a black level much darker than the XBR8, but then try to say that the 8500 does the level of the darkest black second you have never seen. CNET, makes you look like hypocritical idiots.It also clearly shows your bias for plasma, particularly Pioneer Plasma. I had the Kuro 151, and I am now the owner of 8500. If you compare the black level of these two TVs side by side, it is not even close. A plasma simply can not go 100% black literal. The individual plasma cells can go completely erased, but they still have an electric current passes through them, and they still have to use a filter to prevent black light to show the current in them.The Pioneer Kuro can go very dark and achieves an incredible black ink, but a local dimming LED - when done correctly - can completely rejected every bit of light for a given region of the panel. The result is a black level which is so dark it can not be measured. It is the only way to achieve legitimate black. We will discuss a few other aspects of the performance of this TV. Words can not describe the colors of this TV. Color accuracy is impeccable. LED 240Hz with a movement more resoloves all 1080 lines in motion. This is one of television never made that can resolove all 1080 lines in motion.The TV shows no flowering. The ratio of extreme contrast makes the screen bright with an open question. The only way you ever noticed the screen is so bright you really see a film noir in a brightly lit room. If you are viewing the sensitive content such as sports events in a room that is sunny with a window directly on the TV, you would not see any reflection whatsoever. The bright screen and ultra transparent panel also allows the television to keep the same level of black regardless of lighting conditions in the room.I also have the XBR8 and while the matte screen is ideal for a room with a window overlooking the television screen mat does not allow the TV to maintain the same exact level of black. It certainly reached an incredible level of black, but I just wanted to mention to anyone considering vs matt gloss. This TV is simply the best. I hope this helps. Thank you.

For automatic control, do not think any camcoder beats the 2003 MiniDV line. The combination of work and Spot metering controls fairly accurate, though sometimes slow to react to give a focus 9. The camera also has seven automatic modes reliable enough exposure to work quite well, especially with the addition of the light button.
